Impact of Mn doping on the ferroelectric photovoltaic effect in multidomain BiFeO<sub>3</sub> thin films under above-bandgap illumination

Abstract While recent studies have revealed that chemical doping can enhance the photovoltaic (PV) response of ferroelectrics under light with photon energy ( hν ) lower than bandgap E g ), its impact above-bandgap illumination &gt; is not fully understood. In this study, PV at Mn - doped BiFeO 3 (BFO) thin films a periodic stripe domain pattern investigated. The short-circuit photocurrent density J sc and open-circuit voltage decrease increasing content. Analyses light-polarization angle dependence indicate arises primarily from non-centrosymmetric nature crystal lattices in both bulk wall (DW) regions. contrast, contribution local electric fields across DWs which dominates undoped BFO significantly suppressed by doping. We consider screening effect charged defects leads to Mn-doped films.
